Speak(easy) Howard & Columbia Festival of the Arts present four events June 20-23
Speak(easy) Howard is proud to present a series of events during the Columbia Festival of the Arts this summer – including one with a star-studded lineup featuring Sam Underwood (Jake Otto in Fear the Walking Dead), Atandwa Kani (King T’Chaka in Black Panther) and Valorie Curry (Talia in Blair Witch). The Columbia Festival of the Arts is a two-week summer festival that provides unique, world-class arts and entertainment experiences for the region surrounding Columbia. Last year’s festival drew 20,000 people.

All events take place at the Horowitz Center at Howard Community College, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, MD 21044.

Stoop Storytelling Series

On Purpose: Stories About Living in Line with Your Unique Values

Seven storytellers share seven-minute, real, personal stories on their experiences creating a life that stays true to what they value.

Endgame Film Screening

Friday, June 21 | 6:30 p.m. | Monteabaro Hall
Not the other End Game, this short film weaves together stories of three visionary medical providers as they practice on the cutting edge of life and death, helping to change the way we think about both. The film will be followed by a time for reflection and discussion about our own unique values for life until the end. FREE ADMISSION

The Second City: Cure for the Common Comedy

Chicago’s legendary sketch and improv comedy theater presents an evening of edgy, thought-provoking scenes that are always spectacularly funny, bringing humor to the serious moments of life—and death.

Selected Shorts

Sunday, June 23 | 6 p.m. | Smith Theatre
The NPR hit series Selected Shorts present a live show with host Zach Grenier (David Lee in The Good Wife), and actors Valorie Curry (Talia in Blair Witch) and Atandwa Kani (King T’Chaka in Black Panther) as they present stories that show us how to share our wishes, love our tribe and live our best life. Join us for an evening of theatrical tales that teach us it’s never too late (or early) to seize the day.
